On Friday, June 29, the New York Lottery announced that Islip resident Genine Plummer claimed her second-place prize of $1,000 a week for life for matching the first five numbers drawn in a May 2022 CASH4LIFE game.

The winning numbers drawn were 3, 9, 33, 57, 58, and Cash Ball 1.

The second-place prize for CASH4LIFE ensures that the recipient will receive a $1 million minimum payout. Winners can choose their winnings as a one-time lump sum or as a for-life annuity.

“I’m just in shock with everything and amazed,” Plummer told the New York Lottery. “I am overwhelmed.”

Lottery officials said that Plummer filed her claim after the lottery sent an alert to players notifying them tickets would expire on Friday, May 26.

The retired Postal Service employee received the message just two weeks before this date, double-checked her tickets, and claimed her winnings on the expiration date.

Plummer chose to receive her prize in annual installments of $33,852 after required withholdings.

When asked for her advice to other players, she said, “Keep playing as I did and check your tickets like I did, especially if you have many tickets on hand.”

Her winning ticket was purchased at the Bay Shore ShopRite, located at 1905 Sunrise Highway

The CASH4LIFE GAME generated $120,868,815 in total sales over the fiscal year 2021-2022. During the same period, Suffolk County school districts received $270,015,864 in Lottery Aid to Education.
